RRL “Lewis” Engineer Jacket

I was glad to finally be able to give this to the lady for the holidays! A reproduction of an old denim Engineer jacket with awesome details done up by RRL. Constructed out of what seems to be Cone Mills denim, with numerous fabric repairs that our patched with contrasting denim. Non-visible blue-line selvedge details on the inner placket & pockets. Reinforced canvas lining on all of the pockets, and a really awesome side-entry pocket watch pocket. Since this is a women’s jacket, they used a pink thread for the bar-tracking and chain stitching. A really nice vintage inspired piece, made in San Francisco and dead-on accurate. The repairs at the arm openings hint that it got caught in machinery and ripped.

Up close: RRL Wrangler Trucker Jacket

A reproduction of a vintage Wrangler denim jacket done by RRL, the “heritage” side of Polo Ralph Lauren. A gem that my lady and I were lucky enough to find and obtain for almost nothing. This is one of the most well thought-out garments I’ve ever seen, everything from the top-notch construction, to the historical accuracy of the details. Unfortunately, I’ve yet to find the mens version yet… but it’s to nice to not mention.

  • Entire jacket is done in a pre-distressed 14oz selvedge denim
  • Chain-stitch construction on all seams
  • Cowhide patch
  • Side-buckles on the waist for fit adjustment
  • Copper rivets at stress points
  • Made in the USA

Durability Pt. 2

Today was the first day I walked outside and wasn’t instantly reminded how much I dislike Florida’s weather. There was a nice breeze, and no humidity – this is definitely something we do not see a lot of down here, so I took advantage of it. My Columbiaknit x Arch Clothing crewneck has been getting a lot of wear, and will be getting even more here as the weather cools down. The RRL buckle-backs are crafted from a heavy duck canvas and put together extremely well with a straight leg fit. I’ve been trying switch out my jeans every now and then, so these get some wear – and to keep it different. Red Wing work oxfords… what more can I say? It took me forever to track these down in my size, and I could not be happier with them.

RRL Jeans & Stratford Work Jacket

This is not a women’s fashion blog, but I do have an appreciation for anything that’s well made – and these fit that bill. Here are two new RRL pieces my girlfriend picked up. Both made in the USA with superb attention to detail. The jeans are the RRL “Boy Fit” 12oz selvedge denim in a size 24, and the jacket is the Stratford Work jacket, made from a 13oz selvedge denim. Enjoy the photos.
